All about Lake Como

First-time Visitor Policy:

For the better safety and security of Lake Como residents, members and guests, the following visitor policy will be in effect as of July 25, 2022. First-time visitors to Lake Como are advised to call the Lake Como office at 813-949-1810 ext. 0 before visiting if they have any questions on this policy.

  • All visitors must produce a photo driver’s license or other acceptable government photo ID.
  • All first-time visitors will be required to take a guided tour, currently offered from 10 am to 4 pm seven days a week, weather permitting.
  • A criminal background check is required for all visitors. Until a satisfactory background check response is received from the certifying agency, visitors will not be allowed access to Lake Como Resort grounds or use of facilities.
  • A social security number must be provided for the background check, will be used solely for this purpose, and will not be saved.
  • Processing delays: Especially on weekends, there may be a delay of several days for our receipt of background check results, and in this event there will be no resort access allowed during the delay. Therefore, visitors may wish to call our office several days in advance of their visit to provide us with information needed to do the background check.
  • Motel & RV Guests: First-time visitors staying overnight should provide their social security number when reserving so that a background check may be completed before arrival.
  • Background checks must be renewed every two years for all members and visitors.
  • These requirements may be waived by management for certain open house events but will not be waived on any individual basis at any other time.

General Policy Summary

Singles, couples & families are all welcome to Lake Como Family Nudist Resort, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or disabling condition.

  • We are a nudist resort & community. Nudity is accepted and expected throughout Lake Como grounds, weather permitting.
  • Nudity is required at pool and pool deck, in hot tub and in sauna.
  • Swimsuits or sexually provocative dress are not allowed anywhere on Lake Como grounds.
  • Sexually provocative, lewd, rude, or personally demeaning speech or behavior will not be tolerated.
  • No glass containers are allowed on pool deck, in hot tub enclosure or at the beach.
  • By Florida Health Code, food and beverages are not allowed in the pool or within four feet of the pool (“wet deck”). However, commercially bottled water in original plastic containers is allowed on the “wet deck”, but not in the pool itself. Food and beverages are not allowed in the screened hot tub enclosure.
  • You must place your towel on any seating area before sitting if you ar nude.
  • Showering with soap is required before using pool or hot tub.
  • Photography is not permitted except by express approval of Lake Como management and under supervision of Lake Como staff.
  • Carrying a firearm or other deadly weapon on one’s person in the resort is prohibited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lake Como is not a “clothing-optional” resort, but a traditional nudist resort where nudity is required in the pool and hot tub, and expected everywhere on the grounds, weather permitting. We are a “clothes-free” resort because we allow nudity throughout the grounds at all times.

Guests may bring food & drink into the resort, with the following restrictions:  Glass containers are not allowed on pool deck, in hot tub enclosure, or at the beach. Per Florida Health Code, food & drink are not allowed within four feet of the pool. Guests may not bring outside drinks into the bar or restaurant, and cannot bring outside food into the restaurant.

We are a family nudist resort and children (under 18 years old) are welcome, and are admitted without charge, but are only allowed in the resort if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is a Como resident, member or registered guest, who assumes custodial responsibility for the children’s conduct and safety.

You may bring your dog provided: the animal is registered at the office and has a current rabies vaccination. Dogs must be leashed and under the owner’s control at all times. Dogs are not permitting inside common buildings, on the pool deck, in the hot tub enclosure, or at the sandy beach. If you are lodging here, pets are allowed in designated motel rooms with a pet surcharge. Please ask when you are reserving for a pet-friendly room.

Resort Rule Summary

  • Clothing:: Residents, members, and guests of the Resort are expected to be nude in the Resort, weather permitting. Towels or seat coverings must be used at all times while sitting in public areas. Underwear, bathing suits, T-backs, thongs, etc., are not permitted. There may be limited circumstances where, due to medical reasons, body covering may be necessary. In those cases, the person should report to the Office for clearance. Provocative clothing may only be worn at special events where such clothing is appropriate, provided that minors are not present.
  • Prohibited Conduct. Violations of privacy, public intoxication, use of illegal drugs, immoral conduct, and disturbance of the peace are prohibited. Unwanted or undue attention to another person’s children, gawking, fondling yourself or another person, or physical violence is unacceptable. Sexual or other harassment of members, residents, children, guests, or visitors will result in eviction from the Resort. Carrying a firearm or
    other deadly weapon on one’s person in the Resort is prohibited.
  • Children (under 18) are admitted only accompanied by parent or legal guardian,. Parents, guardians, and guests are responsible for the actions, discipline, and safety of their minorchildren. Minors must be under the supervision of a parent or the parent’s designee after curfew times, which
    are as follows: 10 p.m. for age 11 and under, 11 p.m. for age 12 through 15, and 12 a.m. for age 16 and 17
  • .Swimming/Boating. There are no lifeguards on duty at the pool or beach. Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a parent or designated responsible adult at all times.  All posted rules must be followed.
  • Radios: Do not play radios loud enough to disturb others; earphones are preferred.
  • Glass: No glass containers of any kind are allowed in pool, on pool deck, in hot tub enclosure or at the beach area.
  • Alcohol is sold in the bar and restaurant. Outside drinks of any kind may not be brought into the bar or restaurant per Florida code. Minors are not allowed in the bar. Please be moderate in your alcohol consumption.
  • Photography of any kind using any device with a camera is prohibited in public areas without the express permission of Lake Como management and all persons in the photographs. A staff member must accompany authorized photographers.
  • Boating: Club kayaks and paddle boats may be used by adults, and by children accompanied by an adult. Use is at your own risk. Paddles and floatation devices are available at the beach area.
  • Fishing is allowed away from swim areas. Florida license required.
  • Laundry: Coin-operated washers and dryers are located at two bath houses in the RV area on Green Acres Ln. and on Hobbs Way. See map. Soap is available in the office.
  • Pets: Pet friendly rooms are available with a pet surcharge; up to 2 pets are allowed per room. Guests may bring pets but aggressive animals will not be allowed. Pets are not allowed in common recreations areas (bar, cafe, pool and pool deck, etc.) and must on leash (6 foot or less fixed, 16 foot or less retractable), and be under owner’s control at all times. There is a fenced dog exercise area in the West Grove.
  • Smoking & Vaping are prohibited: inside any resort building including screened areas.– inside guest rooms and cabins – on the pool deck except in the designated smoking area – on trail fire hazard areas as posted.
  • Quiet Hours are from 11 pm to 8 am (music & partying) but disturbing or annoying noise (drilling, grinding, pounding, sawing, etc.) is prohibited from 5 pm to 9 am.
  • Valid driver’s license is required to drive within the resort. Speed limit is 10 mph and applies to ALL vehicles including golf carts and bicycles.
  • Please check in office for hour of Bare Buns Cafe Restaurant and the Butt Hutt bar, which may vary by season.
  • Office Business Hours are 8 am to 11 pm daily. Staff will be happy to assist with any issues. The entrance window is staffed 24 hours a day; please show your membership card or day pass for re-entry.
  • Guests not registered for overnight stay must leave by midnight.
