Lake Como Radio Club Weekly "NET"
We want you to join us “on the air” every Wednesday at 7:30 pm to test your equipment to be sure it’s ready when you need it.
Now that the Lake Como GMRS repeater is up and running with a range that enables cell-phone free communication from Lake Como up to about four miles (in all directions) we need to make sure everyone who is interested knows how to use it.
So, in addition to our monthly in-person meetings in the Recreation Center, the Lake Como Radio Club will host a weekly event held “on the air.”
Every Wednesday at 7:30 pm, we encourage anyone with a GMRS radio at Lake Como and the surrounding community to tune into the Lake Como GMRS repeater frequency.
The designated master of ceremonies known as a “net control operator” will begin asking for “check-ins” from anyone listening. Participants will respond in a roundtable manner simply with their name and general location. Don’t be shy–just follow the lead of the net control operator; it’s a low pressure environment.
By doing so, it’s a fantastic “work out” to ensure your radio is charged, working, and that you remember how to use it in case it’s required during an actual emergency.
For more information about how to tune into the repeater so that you can participate, please e-mail the club at info@lakecomoradio.club or ask a member.
